BladeRun Western Europe postponed until September

BladeRun Western Europe, organisers of the BladeRun Rally due to depart Rotterdam today, have been forced to postpone the event following a last-minute license issue relating to the Antwerp area. The decision was taken after it became apparent that legal wranglings could overshadow this successful formula for powerboating adventures.

The issue in question, which only came to light on the eve of the first ever Dutch-organised event, relates specifically to the running of commercial events on inland waterways. The Belgian authority's original interpretation of the event's status was suddenly revoked, requiring BladeRun Western Europe to re-apply for a commercial license.

"We had no option but to postpone," explained bitterly disappointed event promoter. "The new license could take more than two weeks to arrive. It left us in a very difficult position and the only responsible option was to rearrange although the BladeRun Saturday night party in Rotterdam will still go ahead as planned."

BladeRun combines competition, speed, glamour and entertainment with themed party nights featuring top DJ's from the US and Europe. "Our competitors are naturally unhappy with the last minute postponement but most have already confirmed their involvement when the event is rearranged." the promoter adds.

Within the coming weeks, BladeRun Western Europe is expected to announce revised dates in September 2010.
